James Burge
Brewmaster & Owner
James is, more or less, the driving force behind Pure Order Brewing Company. At Texas Christian University James discovered a passion for brewing beer and has since been honing his craft and testing his recipes with increasingly sophisticated home brewing setups. After college, James took a job with a construction and irrigation company where he spent his days laying pipe (not in a good way) and digging trenches. The money was good and the job was relatively steady but his general happiness had taken a major hit.
With the unconditional love and support of his wife Megan and their two sons Ryder and Sawyer, James moved to Santa Barbara with dreams of rallying his brothers and cousins to build the craft brewery they had always dreamt about.
A true family man, James and Megan have since added a little girl named Olivia to their growing family and has a fourth on the way. Outside of the brewery you can find James and his family sailing on their boat or playing Jenga at Pure Order.
David Burge
Sales Extraordinaire, Santa Barbara
David was born in Santa Barbara and spent much of his life developing relationships throughout the community. After graduating from USC and spending a year in West Hollywood he had simply had enough of the Los Angeles rat race. Hoping to rediscover the laid back lifestyle he remembered from his childhood, David returned to Santa Barbara.
To put it mildly, he has spent a considerable amount of time getting to know the employees, owners and patrons of Santa Barbara’s bar and restaurant scene. He can only hope that these sacrifices pay off when it comes to selling and distributing Pure Order beer.
Outside of the brewery you can find David at Rincon Point, watching the Laker game, or jamming out to music with good friends.

Diana Burge
Sales Extraordinaire, Los Angeles area
Native to San Marino, California, Diana graduated from College of Charleston with a B.A. in Arts Management. She is the younger sister of Pure Order’s Brew Master, James Burge and cousin to Sales Executive, David Burge.
During her last year in Charleston, Diana worked for an events company which she credits for teaching her the ins and outs of event planning and sales. Diana recently got hitched to her long time boyfriend and relocated to Huntington Beach where she keeps the Pure Order name alive.
Outside of making Pure Order a SoCal name, you can find Diana at the beach, traveling with her new husband, and attending art shows with girlfriends.
John Halter
Brewers Assistant
As a passionate home brewer himself, John comes to us after graduating from Humboldt University in 2014 with a degree in Microbiology and Chemistry. One day John and his dad stopped by the tasting room for just one beer, but in true Pure Order fashion one beer turned into a few, then by the end of the day John had a job as the Brewers Assistant.
John works hard to keep the beer flowing and he's James right hand man in brewing, fermenting, dry hopping, bottling, and pretty much all things beer. You'll usually find him tucked away in the back of the brewery being a chemist.
Outside of the brewery you can find John making his own home brews with his family and friends.
Jared Swiggard
Taproom Bartender & Delivery Boy
Jared was born and raised in Manchester, New Hampshire. After graduating high school in 2009 he enlisted into the Marine Corps infantry and was stationed in Twentynine Palms, California. Upon completion of his active duty contract, and in search of more relaxed lifestyle, he moved to Santa Barbara where he is now studying Engineering at Santa Barbara City College and serving the loyal patrons of Pure Order.
Outside of the brewery and school you can find Jared at the beach, hiking the local trails, and attending nearby music events.
Devin Beach
Taproom Legend
Devin has moved back up north with his family. He's been the backbone since day 1, but don't fear, he will be making some guest appearances in the taproom this summer. Make sure to give him a high five next time you see him!
Baby Blue
The Delivery Girl
Meet Baby Blue, she's our vintage 1977 Volkswagen delivery girl. Blue has been with the Burge family since the beginning. One day James stumbled upon her pink slip in downtown LA, her beat-up old jalopy exterior didn't scare him away, as he saw her for what she really is, a gem. So with a tow-truck and open mind he welcomed Blue into the Burge family.
Blue has since been totally revived with a new paint job, new tires, and a revved up engine. You may have seen her cruising around downtown SB making deliveries at her favorite local bars, markets, and restaurant. Don't be shy when you see her around town, give her a honk, she'll be sure to give you one back!
When not making deliveries you can find Blue parked at the brewery, staking her claim right out front of the brewery doors, to be sure she's seen by the bystanders. she's very friendly, go ahead and snap a picture in front of her!
